Ahh Ahh FLU!!

Flu season is in full force again and here are a few things we can do to strengthen our immune system and avoid catching a cold, influenza or other respiratory illnesses.




  • Wash your hands frequently: before you eat, after being in public places an avoid putting your hands on your face with unwashed hands.
  • Take Vitamin D3 drops daily. You can also take the tablets or gel caps but nutritionists agree that liquid gets absorbed faster. It's also more effective to take the top end of the recommended dosage (4000 IU- for adults).                    
  • Take 500 mg of Vitamin C daily or 1000 mg if you feel like you are coming down with a cold, flu or respiratory illness.
  • A good B Complex can give you energy, boost your immune system and help you get through the stressful winter months both physically and mentally.
  • ZInc is also key to keep your immune system in peak condition. Dosage for adults is typically 15-35 mg a day. Take the higher end of the dosage if you are already sick.

***Just make sure you add up all supplemental sources of vitamins and    minerals you take like multivitamins or vitamin/mineral containing drinks, shakes and bars; to make sure you don't take more than recommended dosages.***

HOMEOPATHIC Preventative:  INFLUENZINUM
                                                            Influenzinum is the homeopathic preparation of the current influenza vaccine. It is taken once a month from October to May to combat the flu strains chosen for that year. Like all homeopathic remedies, it does not produce side effects, it is non-allergenic and cannot contraindicate with any other medications. It is safe for children, adults and seniors alike.

What if I already have the flu?
Homeopathy is a great choice because since the flu is caused by a virus, antibiotics are not helpful. Therefore you can only palliate your symptoms with various over the counter medications that come along with side effects.

At the first signs of flu, Oscillococcinum is a an excellent remedy
to shorten the duration of the flu or make the symptoms less severe.

It is common to catch a flu this cold season. We must protect ourselves to avoid getting sick.Children are usually susceptible since they like to play outdoors and do a lot of activities in school. Parents should nourished their kids with healthy foods especially those that are rich in vitamins and minerals to prevent getting any respiratory illnesses. Education is essential and being absent in class because of sickness should be avoided.
